Hey there Gorgeous, Thank you for stopping by. I want to share with you my newest baby, Maskcara Makeup. I’d like to start with a Maskcara Makeup Review guest post by Madeline Mele, one of my favorite people in Kentucky. She is a great business and life coach.
Let’s check out her review below, (but it is also found here).
Madeline’s story and first impression
Back in 2011, I was in a makeup rut. I wore BareMinerals and loved it, but wanted to know:
How did celebrities look so AMAZING, and I just looked so… normal.
I’m not talking about the plastic surgery or the oxygen facials. Because I know some celebrities choose to go that route. BUT
I’m talking strictly makeup. So I did some hunting on the internet for tutorials.
And then EUREKA! I FOUND HER! Drumroll please!
Enter:
Cara is a mom, just like me, who has a passion for sharing her talent! One of her many talents is that of a makeup artist. In fact, she was a legit celebrity makeup artist and was ready to share all of her secrets. FOR FREE right on her blog. She was EXACTLY what I was looking for.
So I watched video after video, inspired by all of her astounding MAKEOVER MONDAYS
In her tutorials, she would show you exactly what she was doing, and what product she was using.
Ever since I discovered Cara, I have been following along on her Instagram, learning all I can. She even taught me how to shape a stunning eyebrow in her Brow School. (game changer!)
The biggest take-away I got from Cara’s tutorials was the importance of HAC or
Highlight and Contouring
The theory behind HAC is that you can draw attention to the areas of your face that you love, and hide the parts that you don’t. Your nose looks similar, and in my case- the forehead looks smaller. I technically have a five head, with a receding hair line. Not a good combo.
So, using my BareMineral makeup, I would try to replicate the Highlight and Contour effect using what I had. After all, I was super comfortable using BareMinerals. I wasn’t perfect at HAC, but it made a HUGE difference.
And then Cara blew me away. She decided to create her very own makeup and developed the IIID Foundation, based on the principles of Highlight and Contouring.
I was so happy for her that she could turn what she loved into a business for herself! How incredible, right!
But I was still happy with my BareMineral makeup and wasn’t willing to go out on a limb and buy something I didn’t try first. Especially regarding makeup, it’s a bit tricky for me. Here I am, no makeup (do me a favor and squint your eyes a bit while looking at this picture, HA!):
Not my best look, eh?
I have very sensitive skin. It’s a weird combination of dry and extremely oily. I’m currently working on fixing that, but on top of THAT I have hormonal acne and redness. Like, I touch my face and it’s pink for an hour.
BareMinerals does okay for that, but I was curious, could Maskcara’s new makeup line do better?
and then BAM! On January 17th, 2017 Maskcara created a way for ordinary women to make this their business too! She developed her company so that any woman who is passionate about quality makeup and instruction can join the movement to improve the lives of women around them. She’s just awesome.
Shortly after her announcement a few weeks ago, my friend Jenny Lane jumped right on board and within TWO HOURS became one of the first Independent MaskCara Artists here in Kentucky.
Jenny is a professional photographer and videographer and is passionate about documenting other’s lives through photo and film. Jenny is excited to introduce her family, friends, and clients to MaskCara’s favorite principle of Highlight and Contour, and now she can show them how using the new IIID Foundation, in person and online!
I couldn’t help myself! I messaged Jenny and we arranged a time for me to try it out. Sitting at my kitchen table, we tried it out. She had lots of different pallets for me to choose from, and she taught me how to color match to choose the best fit. With our first try, this is what we came up with:
Now THAT is a face that I could be ready all the time with! MaskCara made it to where your entire routine is streamlined with a custom IID Foundation palette:
Highlight: Honey
Contour: Shadow
Blush and Lip Color: Baby Watermelon
Illuminator: Pearl
Because everyone has different skin type and skin tone, it’s important to build a custom palette that is perfect for your face! (Hint, this is the sign of a true makeup artist!)
You can look through all of her palette options here on her website.
Because I have been using the HAC method for a few years, it didn’t take long for me to get the hang of it using her silky smooth IIID Foundation.
She even shows you how right here in her new video tutorial.
Her before and after shots are amazing! Here are my own:
All of my own Makeover Monday with MaskCara dreams are coming true!!
I am really impressed with how well I can achieve the “No Makeup” look using her unique IIID Foundation. Not only did it last all day on my oily skin, but it felt luxurious, my face was glowing all day, and it lasted until I gently washed it off late at night before I went to bed.
I think I may have just found my new favorite makeup for this year. Especially once I found out that ONE palette lasts a whopping SIX – EIGHT Months! Are you kidding??
Not only would MaskCara’s new makeup shorten and simplify my routine, minimize my supplies, but it will also last a terrifically long time at an unbelievably low price. It’s a match made in heaven.
I am so giddy to keep trying out different custom palette combinations with Jenny, my own personal MaskCara artist until I find the perfect color match for me. And then it’s buh-bye BareMinerals! You were nice, but it’s time to step it up with MaskCara Beauty.
If you have never heard of Cara and her fabulous new makeup line and tutorials, I am warning you: Your makeup routine is about to get it’s own fabulous makeover.
If you would like to connect with Jenny and try it out for yourself, you can find her
