Waveland State Historic Site
Waveland has always been a fun place to document families. The lighting is great and there is a lot of wide open space with lush greenery. Because its a historical site, it’s well maintained and has some famous names attached to it. Maybe you have heard of him, Daniel Boone? Amazing, right? This property provided many innovations for the mid 1800’s. Namely a Blacksmith shop, gun shop, distillery, grist mill, church meeting house, a education school for women, brick servant quarter, ice house, barn smoke house and even a paper mill!
Established in 1971
Six miles south of downtown Lexington,
“In 1957 Waveland became a Kentucky Life Museum. The museum depicted Kentucky life from pioneer days through the Civil War. In 1971, the University of Kentucky deeded Waveland to the Kentucky Department of Parks.”
I really enjoyed getting to know this family throughout our session. We planned outfits in advance which truly benefits the end result. As a client, it will also make you feel more comfortable wearing something that showcases your family’s style as well. We also planned a time that wouldn’t interfere with anyone’s “nap time.” Although the clouds were rolling in with heavy rain on their backs, we were able to capture their fun loving personalities.
We captured such a great collection for this family and especially value being able to sit down with them and review the images. There is nothing better than being able to help a family creating images that will last a lifetime and truly make your heart smile. I don’t think it hurts to use the beautiful Waveland Museum as a backdrop to create something of heirloom quality.
At Jenfolio Portrait Art, you can expect to view a collection of images from every session that would fit perfectly in one of our heirloom custom designed albums. But we understand if you need to display these on your walls too. They deserve to be there too.
